Cousins

Our second and last day with cousin Savannah and Auntie Rebecca has come to a close. Rebecca and I tried our skills at taking "cousin" pictures for Grandma this afternoon. It's hard to get TWO little persons to look at the camera AND smile. :)

"The sun is so bright, mama!"

Savannah isn't exactly sure what she thinks about Ralphie.
The basketball was much more entertaining, that's for sure. :P

"Enough pictures, mama. Seriously!"

 Peekaboo!

 Kisses!
Mommy tried to help Savannah hold Ralphie, but it made her a teensy bit nervous.

Thanks for the fun memories, can't wait for next time!

Savannah Jane | Cedar Crest Park, Rock Hill, SC

It's been a busy month for the Wells family. Time is just flying by! This weekend Daniel's sister, Rebecca, and her little girl are here for a visit. We had a fun time this afternoon at the playground... mostly, we were just played on the swings. :)

Savannah LOVED the swing.

Isn't she so pretty?

And where was Ralphie all this time, you may wonder?

Sleeping in his stroller!

Stay tuned for more from this weekend, and updates on what we've been up to the last three weeks!

Cheers!

NFL Draft

It's Draft Day!

Woot!

The guys are celebrating, and I'm pulling out my hair.
WHY CAN'T FOOTBALL SEASON END WHEN THE SUPERBOWL IS OVER? ;)

Child of the Covenant

The first time I really understood why we, as Presbyterian Christians baptize infants my response was a literal, jaw-dropping "WOW."

It's not what we do. It's what God has done. It's not what we bring. It's what Christ has brought.

It's simply - yet profoundly - a sign and a seal of a covenant that God has made with us. A covenant of grace.

The water symbolizes our need for cleansing - for a washing away of sin. As the water pours over our head, it is in hope that the Holy Spirit will be poured over our entire life.

In the Old Testament, God's covenant with his people was the covenant of circumcision. It was a mark that showed God's people were different, that they were set apart - not just fathers, but their children, as well - a household of believers. In that same way, as Daniel and I have the mark of baptism upon us, setting us apart as children of God, we want to bring each child we are given into this new covenant of baptism - showing to the world that we are a household of believers.

Baptized "...in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen"

We don't believe baptism saves Ralphie - only faith in Jesus Christ can do that. But it is our hope as his parents that one day Ralphie will grow to claim his baptism as his own. That he will recognize God's grace in his life, and believe in faith.

Pastor Nathan Frazier

It is our prayer that there will not be a day, or even an hour, where our son does not know he is a child of the King. Not a day, or an hour, where he does not accept God's grace and live by faith.

Grandma visited!

We are blessed to have this hope as parents: That God is faithful to his people. That He will never leave us nor forsake us. And, His promises are not just to fathers, but to their children, and their children's children - to as many as are faithful unto a thousand generations.

As we welcome Ralphie into this great covenant of grace we rejoice in His blessing to us in giving us a son, and we pray that by God's grace we are beginning a legacy of faithful, godly children who live by grace alone.

Tummy Time

is a BIG hit for the little man!

He usually starts out happy and curious. He makes cute little grunts and sighs as he flexes his muscles and tries to lift up his head.

Eventually, he gets tired, and just hangs out, looking at the colors on his jungle gym mat. He loves his jungle gym mat.

Then, he decides he's had enough.

But, mama is mean and ignores him for a few minutes. And comes back to find he's happily relaxed, staring at something else.

So, I flip him over before he cries again and he just stares to his heart's content.
