Little Birdies

Remember last summer when I found that ugly little yellow finch? Well, the birds are back this year, but in a different kind.

Three weeks ago I found this in one of the hanging baskets on our front porch. A day later there were five.

Early last week, I heard a whole bunch of bird commotion on the front porch, and looked out to see three birds perched on the basket, chirping away. When the coast was clear I went to peek, and sure enough, two of the five eggs had hatched. By the next morning, all five little birdies were shell-free.

I know I said I love all things baby, but honestly, baby birds are ugly. Still... they're so tiny and helpless that I think they're cute. ;)
