Independence Day Weekend

My sister Angela and her husband Peter came down for the weekend. We spent Saturday at Carowinds the amusement park just over the border in South Carolina. The day was perfect for our outing. Bright sunshine, with occasional clouds, low humidity, and a breeze now and then. Since it is not recommended that pregnant women go on rough rides or roller coasters we spent the majority of the day in the water park, just having a blast. There were several low-impact slides that turned out to be lots of fun, and we all enjoyed the wave pool. Mostly though, it was just fun to be together.

Sunday we relaxed. Since our pastor was out of town for the weekend, Daniel had most of the responsibilities at church. He taught the adult Sunday school, and led worship, which included preaching the sermon. I think as his wife I have bragging rights: It was his best yet. It is a wonderful thing to see the Lord working in him continually, making him not only the man he was meant to be, but the preacher and pastor, too. :) I got a glimpse of his "glory self" (Tim Keller) on Sunday, and I was nearly in tears.

After church we had a delicious lunch of sirloin steaks, steamed asparagus, homemade rolls, and tomatoes topped with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and bread crumbs. We took naps, the guys watched a little tv, and Angela and I tested our knowledge of 1984 with Daniel's outdated version of Trivial Pursuit. :)

I'm sad they're gone, but we have wonderful memories to remember, so that makes everything a little better.
